Sacha Coté was born in Tucson, Arizona in 1955. He majored in Chinese Language and Culture at UCLA. His mother, Joan, was an artist and encouraged Sacha to develop his art. In 1975 Sacha went to Paris, France, and was inspired by the art he found there, which helped him to create exciting new ideas working in mixed media. Sacha went to Soho, New York in the mid 1970s and was selected from a group of 400 by Noyes, van Cline and Davenport Galleries at 1018 Madison Avenue and participated in a group exhibition there.
Sacha later attended the Academy of Art University in the 1980s. And there, his teachers stated that Sacha's work is brilliant, luring and dreamlike, revealing truth and intrigue. They expressed a special interest in his talent and often would not return studies of his artwork, which they kept for themselves.
Sacha's art has been organized into collections dating from the 1980s to the present.
